Act in a film on breast cancer self awareness released in the Capital

NEW DELHI: Sakshi Tanwar, Shweta Keswani and Apra Mehta, well-known names from the small screen have come together to put their saas-bahu saga popularity to better use by appearing in a breast cancer awareness film.

In a first attempt, doctors from the Capital have joined hands to put together a film on not only spreading awareness about breast cancer but also an explicit visual depiction of the right method to carry out breast self examination.

Dr Ramesh Sarin, senior consultant surgical oncology at Apollo hospital explains, “The film is a step by step guide to breast examination. For the first time volunteers have actually agreed to take off their clothes and depict the right method of carrying out the examination. The film is a very serious medical guide and hence we have blurred out the faces of the girls. This will help women understand their bodies and carry out the examination which will be as good as a doctor’s examination.”

The 14-minute film released in the Capital on Friday will be available on the Internet where copies can be ordered on www.forumforbreastprotection.com The DVDs of the film are also likely to be available in chemist stores across the country soon.

The participation of popular television actors is likely to make the film a more familiar experience.

“One of the actors has had a breast cancer association and hence readily agreed to be a part of it. For others, it was a cause close to their heart,” added Sarin.
