Kavita case: UP minister quizzed by CBI

NEW DELHI: CBI on Thursday questioned a minister in Uttar Pradesh government in connection with the mysterious disappearance and alleged murder of a Meerut lecturer Kavita Rani.

Basic Education Minister Kiran Pal Singh was summoned to the CBI headquarters here and was being questioned by sleuths of Special Crime Branch of the agency.

On February 14, former UP minister Mehrajuddin Ahmed was subjected to lie-detector test in connection with the case.

Kavita's murder had sparked a political controversy which also saw Food Processing Minister Babu Lal resigning from the government.
