Kim Clijsters sets wedding date with Brian Lynch

BRUSSELS: Belgian tennis star Kim Clijsters announced on Wednesday that she will marry US basketball player Brian Lynch on July 14.    

"We'll marry just after Wimbledon on July 14. I'll also be focusing my attention on this in the coming weeks," said the former world number one.    

Lynch plays for Belgian club Bree, the town where Clijsters lives. The couple have been engaged since April last year.    

Clijsters, who retires at the end of this year, will skip the French Open to concentrate her efforts on Wimbledon where she reached the semi-finals in 2003.    

The 23-year-old has only won one Grand Slam, at the US Open in 2005, but lifted 34 singles titles in a career spanning 10 years that has earned her almost 15 million dollars. She is currently ranked number four in the world.
