Jewellery worth Rs 27 lakh looted

KANPUR: In a day-light robbery gold ornaments worth Rs 27 lakh were looted in the busy Birhana Road area on Monday, police said.

Manoj Soni, owner of Rajasthan Jewellers, had sent his servant Sanjay Gupta with the ornaments weighing nearly three kilograms to one MK Jakhodia, a bullion agent.

While going to Jakhodia's second-storied office, two miscreants threw chilly powder on Sanjay's eyes and ran away with the bag containing the jewellery.

Sanjay was admitted to a hospital.
