Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the single largest party in Nagpur Municipal Corporation elections by winning 56 seats.

NAGPUR: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday emerged as the single largest party in 136-member Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections by winning 56 seats but failed to get a majority.
The Congress secured 33 seats while Shiv Sena and NCP claimed 7 and 8 seats respectively.
Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party bagged five seats while Lalu Prasad Yadav's RJD 3.
Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena could register victories in 2 seats only.
Ten Independent candidates also won the poll.
