Shiv Sena wins 32, BJP 5; NCP 15 in Thane

THANE: Of the 70 results declared, the Shiv Sena won 32 seats, while its alliance partner the Bharatiya Janata Party won five seats in the Thane Municipal Corporation elections, here on Friday. The Nationalist Congress Party claimed 15 seats.  
 
Mayor Rajan Vichare (Shiv Sena) and former mayor Ashok Raul (NCP) were among the winners.
 
The BJP, in a friendly fight with the Shiv Sena, lost both seats.
 
Counting of votes at Vartak Nagar was suspended following clashes between two candidates.
 
Shiv Rajya Party candidate Sudha Chavan and Sitaram Rane of the Congress clashed over the issue of sealing of ballot boxes, which led to the suspension of counting.
