LONDON: Shilpa Shetty’s upturn in fortunes since her appearance on Celebrity Big Brother continues unabated with the Bollywood actress now being considered to host the UK’s version of Cricket Star.
While Britain has other reality shows like finding pop idols, fashion designers, top models and of course, Big Brother, it is yet to have a show which unearths cricketing talent. Simon Hughes and Manoj Badale who have enjoyed a surprise hit with Cricket Star in India are in discussion with four mainstream broadcasters to bring the programme to the UK, and if they do they would like Shilpa to front it. Hughes told the Guardian newspaper that he was also holding talks with well-known former cricketers to take on the judging roles. Darren Gough, Phil Tuffnel and Ian Botham were possibilities he said.

Tesco, one of the UK largest supermarkets, would like her to endorse their brand, while the Indian Tourist Board have also shown an interest in using her now recognisable face to sell India abroad.
Shilpa told the Daily Mirror — with whom she has signed a six-figure sum for exclusive interviews which are being carried every day by the tabloid since she came out of the CBB house —that she plans to stay on in the UK for some time and her visa has been extended. The Bollywood actress has been approached to write a book, and reportedly has dozens of TV and film offers, and Andrew Lloyd Webber who wrote Bombay Dreams wants her to star in a musical.
Shilpa is already being touted by the Daily Mirror as the ‘ambassador for tolerance and understanding’ after her dignified behaviour in the face of ugly bullying in the Big Brother house. The 31-year-old actress is currently estimated to have amassed a fortune of £15 million.
