NEW DELHI: Villagers of Nithari discovered more skeletal remains in a drain behind Moninder Singh Pandher’s house. Police moved in on Tuesday to recover the remains after being alerted by villagers.

Earlier, police had unearthed 17 skulls and other remains from Pandher’s house in sector 31 of NOIDA. Pandher and his domestic help, Surendra Koli, are suspected to have killed 38 children and women.

In another development related to the case, Inspector Shivraj Singh Yadav of the Noida police was suspended for dereliction of duty. Severe pressure has been building on the police since the recovery of skeletons in Pandher’s house, especially because suspicions of organ trade had been simmering in the area for over two years.

Meanwhile, the Centre has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to issue a notification in a ‘proper format’ for the Central Bureau of Investigation to take over the case. According to sources, UP’s principal secretary, home, Satish Kumar, had sent a letter to Union Home Secretary VK Duggal, which was sent back.

Under the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act governing the CBI, a state government wanting to hand over a case to the agency is required to issue a notification under the act. Then the Centre orders a probe.

AHMEDABAD: The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gandhinagar completed the narco-analysis or ‘truth serum’ test of Moninder Singh Pandher, main accused in the Nithari serial killings, on Tuesday.

FSL deputy director SL Vaya said: “We put forth our questions based on various hypotheses. They (Pandher and co-accused Surendra Koli) cooperated during the examination and we are confident of reaching a conclusion.”

FSL director JM Vyas said Pandher and Koli would be brought back to the laboratory on Wednesday morning “to check their mental and physical condition” before they leave for Noida.

The narco-analysis test of Pandher’s servant Koli was completed on Monday. The two will be produced in court on Wednesday.
