MUMBAI: After a two-day break, a strong bull charge on Tuesday drove the stock markets to new heights, with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) 30-share Sensitive Index (Sensex) ending at a new peak of 13,616.77, up by a huge 186 points.

There seems to be no obstacles for Indian bourses as the high-growth momentum of the economy attracted heavy foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows in the last six months.

The Sensex gradually moved upwards to the intra-day high of 13,630.41 and ended the day at all-time peak of 13,616.77 a net gain of 186.06 points or 1.39 per cent over Monday's close of 13,430.71.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) S&P CNX Nifty too soared by 62.10 points to 1.61 per cent to a new closing high of 3,918.25 from previous close of 3,856.15.

The country is expected to attract FDI worth more than US Dollars 12 billion in this fiscal. FDI inflows recorded a 100 per cent jump in the first two quarters with cumulative inflows amounting to USD 4.4 billion.

Heavyweights like RIL, Tata Steel, SBI, ICICI Bank, TCS Ltd, Satyam Computers, Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors and Wipro recorded handsome gains.
