MUMBAI: India captain Rahul Dravid has been nominated for the Captain of the Year at the Hyundai International Cricket Council (ICC) Annual Awards 2006, the world cricket governing body announced it at the Cricket Club of India on Sunday.

The Indian captain earlier received nomination in four categories in the initial list announced on Sep 6, but had to be content with only one after the list was pruned to four entries on Sunday.

The awards would be given away at a function in Mumbai on Nov 3.

Besides Dravid, left-handed batsman Yuvraj Singh was nominated for the one-day international player of the year award.

The Indian team is also in the fray for the Spirit of Cricket award while Anjum Chopra is vying for honours in Woman Cricketer of the Year category.

Australia captain Ricky Ponting, however, has been nominated in four categories, Cricketer of the Year, Test Player of the Year, one-day international Player of the Year and the Captain of the Year awards.

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif, who has tested positive for the performance-enhancing steroid nandrolone, is among the four players nominated for the Emerging Player of the Year award.

The fast bowler will face a tough challenge from England batsmen Ian Bell and Alastiar Cook and left-arm spinner Monty Panesar.

Asif and compatriot Shoaib Akhtar were recalled from Pakistan's Champions Trophy squad after they positive tests for allegedly using banned substance.

ICC chief executive officer Malcolm Speed said Asif was still eligible for the awards because his performances came before his doping offence.
