VJ Cyrus Sahukar, notorious for his spoof on Simi Garewal in his show ‘Semi Girebaal’, recently faced an identity crisis while shooting in Singapore with a foreign crew. A bunch of TV buffs mobbed him and asked him to sign autographs, but only as the glam Semi Girebaal.
Cyrus recalls, “They were adamant and argued that Semi Girebaal and I were two different persons. I was at my wit’s end. Although I took it as a disguised compliment, I felt I should let the audience know the real face behind the effeminate façade.”
Giving impersonating celebs a break, Cyrus is back as a stand-up guest host in ‘Laughter Destination’. “Since it was a no-holds barred situation, I had a ball indulging in whacko spoofs on a host of filmy issues right from the Censor Board to Himesh Reshammiya. Comedy for me is like a religion and I am always trying to be innovatively wicked.”
The VJ, while turning down TV serials, is gearing up to play a ‘badmaash baddie’ on the big-screen. “Even if I have to face the ‘casting ouch’ in my make-over, I feel it’s worth the evil effort,” he wisecracks.
