Man marries his wife for the second time

INDORE: That not-so-friendly boundaries cannot prevent love from blossoming was proved when a man and his wife from the Pakistani port city of Karachi renewed their wedding vows after living apart for over a year.

Sandeep Sharma and Daisery Anthony of Karachi tied the nuptial knot again at the historic Red Church on Tuesday on the occasion of Independence Day.

The couple had originally been married in a temple in Nepal on February 5, 2005 in the presence of their parents. But Daisery's failure to get a visa forced them to live apart, Sandeep's sister Meghna said on Wednesday.

Sandeep, 27, is a software engineer while Daisery, 21, is a teacher in a Karachi school that counts Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and senior BJP leader L K Advani among its alumni, she said.

According to her, the cross-border romance begun when Sandeep initiated a chat with Daisery on the internet on the issue of "Ram temple or Babri mosque" in 2003.

Their appeal to President A P J Abdul Kalam helped tackle the visa problems faced by Daisery, Meghna said.

Daisery received a call from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad on July 11 and after completing formalities, a visa was issued to her six days later, Meghna said.

Sandeep's father Satya Swaroop Sharma said, "I was not expecting things to materialise, but their determination and love cleared all hurdles in the way. We are really happy about it.

"Even my wife and my 82-year-old mother are very happy to have Daisery in our home," said Sharma, a former employee of All India Radio (AIR).
