Floods inundated most parts of South and Central Gujarat on Monday with Tapti and Narmada flowing well above the danger mark.

Water in excess of 16 lakh cusecs was released from Narmada and Ukai Dam owing to “heavy rains in the catchment areas of MP and Maharashtra”.

Heavy rains lashed several parts of western Madhya Pradesh on Sunday causing water level to rise menacingly in rivers and forcing people in low-lying areas to move to higher grounds in Dhar, Jhabua and Khargone districts.

In Andhra Pradesh, as many as 94 people have been killed in the past five days even as the overall flood situation eased on Monday in the absence of heavy rains.
