Bands like Pin Drop Violence, Helga’s Fun Castle, Zero and Medusa will perform at various rock shows across city in July.

Rock fans in the city will be watching their wallets as a number of rock shows are lined up through the month of July. First up is a show called Mayhem on July 9, where the bands Bhayanak Maut, Skincold, Devoid, Metal Messiah and Bhoomi will play.

The band Pin Drop Violence will be headlining the show and this will be their first live gig in Mumbai in five months. Rohit Pereira, bassist of Pin Drop Violence, said, “We will be playing new tracks from our upcoming album. Our next gig will be our album launch in August. So this is a pre-launch gig to showcase our new songs.”

Show organiser Ritvik Asthana, said, “I wanted to do a complete metal gig where Pin Drop Violence, Bhayanak Maut and Bangalore’s Bhoomi would play together. This gig is dedicated to hard core metal fans.”

On July 15 is a show called July Massacre, which is part of a series of shows that takes place every year. This year’s Massacre is being held in three parts, July Massacre being the first. It will feature the bands Brute Force, Black Hole Theory, Devoid, Systemhouse 33 and Cosmic Intuition.

Varun from Rustbots, who are organising Massacre, said, “Last year’s July Massacre was pretty grand. I am going to have two more. This one will be a thrash metal show, where the only black metal band will be Cosmic Intuition. Black Hole Theory hasn’t played in Mumbai for some time now, so their fans can look forward to hearing them after a long time.”

And the buck doesn’t stop there. Fans of alternative music can look forward to Radio Station, a gig featuring the bands Helga’s Fun Castle, Sceptre, Human Abstract and Rainvan. Asthana, who is organising this show as well, said, “Radio Station was supposed to be a classic rock gig, but now it’s become a mixed bag of music. This is going to attract all kinds of audiences.”

Finally, a show titled Warzone II will feature the bands Zero, The Superfuzz, Messiah, Tripwire and Medusa. Warzone II is scheduled for July 30.

Razz, at Juhu Hotel will be the venue for all the Mumbai-based gigs. Asthana has many more shows lined up for the coming year. He said, “I’ll be having four or five shows every month now.”

Warzone is scheduled to hit Pune and Delhi in the coming months.
