US music producer pardoned by Dubai ruler

A court in the Gulf emirate of Dubai on Tuesday sentenced United States music producer Dallas Austin to four years in prison after he admitted possessing cocaine.

DUBAI: A court in the Gulf emirate of Dubai on Tuesday sentenced United States music producer Dallas Austin to four years in prison after he admitted possessing cocaine.
 
Austin, 33, who has crafted beats for Madonna and Michael Jackson among others, pleaded guilty in court on Sunday to possessing 1.26 grams and five-and-a-half capsules of cocaine.   
 
He faces deportation under the court's ruling.
 
He has 15 days to appeal.   
 
He was arrested at Dubai airport on May 19 as he arrived in the UAE to attend a birthday party for British supermodel Naomi Campbell.
