HAMELIN (Germany): Midfielder Florent Malouda could miss France's World Cup opener against Switzerland on Tuesday because of an injury, France coach Raymond Domenech said on Saturday.

“We will know on Saturday or Sunday whether he can play,” Domenech, who declined to say what Malouda's injury was, told a news conference.

Malouda missed training on Friday, staying at the team's hotel for treatment.

“We will try to have him on the pitch (for training later on Saturday),” Domenech said.

Olympique Lyon's Malouda started France's three warm-up games and would be expected to feature in the starting line-up for the game against Switzerland in Stuttgart, providing he is fully fit.

France’s coach said before the World Cup that no information on the players' medical condition during the tournament would be made available to the media.

South Korea and Togo are France's other opponents in Group G.
