His antics by the bay

MUMBAI: Sahil Zaroo is no small-time college baddie. The Mumbai police know him well. They are also aware of his close association with Rahul Mahajan, Vivek Moitra and their group of friends in Mumbai.

The police recall a recent incident when Sahil had created a ruckus at the upmarket pub Not Just Jazz by the Bay on the Marine Drive near Churchgate. Sahil and his friends wanted the entry and hospitality free of cost. He said he was Vivek Moitra’s guest. When the management declined, he apparently called up a senior IPS officer in Mumbai police (currently in a top position). Whether the officer complied with his request or not is not known.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Arup Patnaik confirmed the incident. “It was some six months back. But now that this case has come up, many skeletons will tumble out of the drug cupboards of Mumbai’s Page 3 society,” Patnaik said.

Sahil’s run in with the police is not limited to minor pub brawls. A case against him has been registered at the Marine Lines police station in February this year for obstructing government officials during a raid at his shop located at the Hilton towers in Nariman Point.

The court rejected Sahil’s ABA following documents and video tapes proved charges against him. Since then Sahil had gone missing and was untraceable.

ACP  Mohan Rathod said, “Sahil had gone missing since Mach 26 and was not traceable. Now that he has been arrested by the Delhi police, we will also send our team to take his custody.”
