Mamata's securityman killed in accident

KOLKATA: A constable of city Police's Special Branch, recently posted on security duty with Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, died in a road accident at Maheshtala in South 24-Parganas district, police said on Sunday.

They said Swapan Patra was riding a motorcycle down the Budge Budge Trunk Road when it was hit by a vehicle around 10.45 pm on Saturday near Sarkarpool under Maheshtala police station.

 Around 11.15 pm., locals rushed Patra to the Kolkata Police Hospital at Alipur. He was later shifted to the SSKM Hospital where he was declared "brought dead".

No one has been arrested in this connection yet, police said, adding that Patra was not on duty when the accident occurred.
