The actor talks about his other TV project and his near-fatal illness

Kiran Karmarkar (Om of ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii’) is back in action. After he quit the Balaji show eight months before, Kiran will now be seen in JD and Aatish Kapadia’s untitled show on Star One. The show will portray Kiran in a different light. “My role is that of an elder brother who is a drunkard and can do anything to get a drink. It is completely different from the one I’ve portrayed in ‘Kahaani…’. People will see a different side to me,” he explains.

Even though the actor admits that he has no problems in doing shows for Balaji, Kiran has refused a role in ‘Karmic Connection’. “Balaji wanted 20 days of every month for the show. It invariably tends to get stretched. I’m not ready to do the same kind of stuff again or else I wouldn’t have quit ‘Kahaani…’ But if they are willing to offer me something different I am game,” he says.

About his near-fatal illness which forced him out of work for a  couple of months, the actor says, “It was a severe case of dengue. I had high temperature and after some blood tests the doctors asked me to get admitted at the Lilavati hospital. It was serious and I was kept in the ICU. But fortunately I came out of it and am in good health now.”

After receiving accolades for ‘Kacche Lamhe’ in Singapore, Kiran is presently in Dubai for the play. The actor is also doing a comedy play ‘Merra Naam Joker’ produced and directed by Shubha Khote.
