NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to stop the sealing of unauthorised commercial premises in residential areas but asked the committee monitoring the process to look into a government plea for relief for violators in some areas.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal sought a report from the monitoring committee by May 4 in this regard.

It said this should not be construed to mean that the sealing should stop or the sealing should go on.

The court allowed the government to place a detailed report of the monitoring committee and explain the areas where relief is being sought.
