Even as BJP leaders LK Advani and Rajnath Singh start their ‘political’ yatra today on Ramnavami, a serial tracking Lord Rama’s peregrination across the country will premiere on Zee Jagran. The Rs 1 crore docu-drama is a weekly.

Titled Jahan Jahan Ram Charan Chali Jahin, the 52-episode series aims to recreate Rama’s legendary path, and will halt at 250-odd spots identified with him.

Many of these places have remained obscure, for example, Makhauda near Ayodhya where King Dasrath is said to have performed the yagya to beget progeny.

Other places include from Ayodhya to Chitrakoot to Sage Agastya’s hermitage near Nashik, and from Kiskindhya to the bridgehead of Rameswaram. To set the mood each time, the series will incorporate clips from Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan.

The project is based on two decades of painstaking research of Dr Ram Avatar Sharma, a PhD in linguistics in Delhi. Arun Govil who essayed Lord Ram in Sagar’s Ramayan will anchor the show.

Zee Jagran CEO Anil Anand hopes that the serial will turn the places covered in 10 states into pilgrimage spots. After the curtain-raiser today, the series will telecast on Sundays at 9 am, with repeats on Monday evenings and Thursday afternoons.
