In a new twist to the Nayana Pujari rape and murder case, special public prosecutor Harshad Nimbalkar on Friday moved an application before the special court seeking to record the testimony of accused-turned-approver Rajesh Chaudhary on camera. This is because Chaudhary would be giving some sensitive and terrifying details about the crime he had witnessed, the prosecutor said.

The defence counsel adv BK Aloor, of prime accused Yogesh Raut and other two suspects, took objection over the application moved by Nimbalkar and said the camera examination was applicable only in case the testimony of a living victim. Aloor termed frivolous the request moved before special judge Sadhana Shinde.

While arguing, Nimbalkar said that in-camera testimony was important as a free and fearless atmosphere should be given to the witness as he was going to give his testimony on a sensitive case. Aloor objected to this saying the prosecution should have made the request for in-camera proceeding at the beginning of the case.

The special judge, after hearing both sides arguments, decided to give her order on October 29.
