A 26-year-old pillion rider died on Monday morning after a speeding tanker hit his bike on the Western Express Highway in Dahisar (East).
Police said the deceased, Abdul Shaikh, a resident of Khar (East) was travelling with his neighbour Yakub.
“The two were returning home after visiting a dargah at Bhayander. When they reached opposite the Gokulanand Hotel on the Western expressway at Dahisar, a speeding tanker, which was also heading towards Borivli, hit their bike. Shaikh fell off the bike and sustained severe injuries in his head, hands and shoulder, while Yakub sustained minor injuries,” said a police officer.
“Passersby rushed Shaikh to Bhagwati Hospital where he was declared dead before arrival,” said Parshuram Kakad, senior inspector of the Dahisar police station.
