A two-storey bungalow in Pleasant Park Cooperative Housing Society at survey number 21/1 in Wanavdi has come up on the green belt, encroaching upon a nala.

After conducting an inquiry, sub divisional officer, Jayashree Katare, has submitted her report to the district collector, recommending that the structure be demolished.

She has also recommended that the district administration direct the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to take action against the illegal construction immediately.

Residents of the society had petitioned the district administration and divisional commissioner, alleging that the bungalow has come up on a plot reserved as a green zone.

The district collector appointed the inquiry committee headed by Katare to probe the allegation. Her report clearly mentioned that the bungalow is illegal and has encroached upon a nala.

The chairman of the society, Pushpakumar Bhosale, along with some members met the municipal commissioner, Mahesh Zagade, on Monday and handed over the sub divisional officer’s report to him.

“The bungalow is owned by Rajesh Jain, who is a former chairman of the society,” the members said.

Sajag Nagrik Manch members Vivek Velankar and Jugal Rathi asked how the PMC could permit construction of the bungalow.

“The officials concerned of the PMC must be taken to task,” they demanded, adding that before taking action on the construction, the PMC must file a caveat in the court to prevent the owner from getting a stay order.
