Independent corporator Ujwal Keskar on Wednesday demanded that the chief minister (CM) should take some crucial decisions for
Pune city, just as he for Pimpri-Chinchwad.
In a letter to CM Prithviraj Chavan, Keskar wrote that he (Chavan) organised a special meeting to resolve issues plaguing Pimpri-Chinchwad and took many important decisions for the twin towns.
He demanded 0.33 additional floor space index (FSI) for redevelopment of middle-class flats in suburban Pune, just like in Mumbai. He said that 2.5 FSI should be given to colonies for people affected by floods in 1962.
He also wrote that in the city’s Peth areas, 2.3 FSI is allowed, but the additional space available due to it is not enough for rehabilitation of residents of wadas. Hence, an additional paid FSI of 0.5 should be allowed.
He asked for the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) to be again divided into the Pune Municipal Transport (PMT) and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Transport (PCMT). As an alternative, the state government should provide the PMPML with Rs5 crore per month for augmentation of the existing bus fleet.
