Led by social activist Swami Agnivesh, members of fishermen community from Nate village in the coastal Ratnagiri district today protested against the proposed nuclear power plant at the nearby Jaitapur.
Locals fear destruction of livelihood and ecological damage due to the proposed plant.
Agnivesh said on the occasion that Konkan villages should preserve the greenery in the region, which is rich in bio-diversity.
Vaishali Patil of Konkan Bachao Samiti said several NGOs supported the fishermen in their protest today.
