Chairman of National Schedule Caste Commission Buta Singh’s son Sarabjot Singh, who is allegedly involved in a graft case, made the phone calls to the co-accused and other persons from his father’s official residence at Teen Murti, New Delhi. This was revealed by the charge sheet against him. He made the calls in order to arrange for the bribe money to reach him.

This information, as per the charge sheet, was deduced by the tower locations of the three mobile phones used by Sarabjot. The charge sheet was filed by the anti-corruption wing of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) last month.

Sarabjot alias Sweety Baba allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs3 crore from the complainant in the case, Ramrao Patil. The amount, later reduced to Rs1 crore, was allegedly to influence Buta Singh for settling a case registered against Patil under the SC and ST Act at Nashik.

As per the CBI case, the deal of Rs1 crore bribe was struck in Buta Singh’s official residence.

The charge sheet stated that all three mobile numbers used by him were not registered in his name. One number was registered in his father-in-law Ravindra Prakash’s name, another in the name of one Gani Singh from Jalore, Rajasthan, and the third in the name of Shoaib Ali, Dayanand Colony, New Delhi.

While Singh was a tourist driver whose car was used in the last Parliamentary elections by Buta Singh, there is no person by the name of Shoaib in the address given, stated the charge sheet.

The numbers were allegedly used to contact co-accused Anup Begi, a frequent visitor to the Teen Murti residence of Buta Singh, and one Sanvalaram Patel in Bangalore. Sarabjot had bought a mobile phone and an Apple laptop from Patel’s hardware shop. Sarabjot told Patel that he would be reimbursed in Mumbai.
