When Rahul Gandhi held campaign meetings for four of his lieutenants from the state, he was clear about their capabilities.

When these lieutenants met Gandhi at his New Delhi residence after the victory early this week, they were sure about what they will have to deliver. Now the Rahul Gandhi brigade is all set to take on in the state Assembly with fair chances of one of them being inducted into the state cabinet.

Rajeev Satav (Kalamner), Nilesh Deshmukh Parvekar (Yavatmal), Yashomati Thakur (Tevasa) and Prashant Thakur (Panvel) are the newly appointed MLAs who belong to the Rahul Gandhi camp and have worked on the latter’s ambitious project ‘Aam Aadmi ka Sipahi.’ The brigade, with all of them between 35 and 37 years, has vowed to work for alleviation of poverty and the upliftment of the tail-enders who are always deprived from the government schemes meant for them.

“The state and central government schemes and programmes which can play a major role in the upliftment of the farmers, workers and labourers don’t properly reach them. Our endeavour is to work for the end users,” they stated.

When the foursome met Rahul Gandhi, they were asked to prepare a blueprint for their constituency and follow it accordingly. Highly impressed with the working style and dedication of their leader, they want to reflect their leader’s vision at the state level. Parvekar said that he wants to see his constituency as the model constituency across the state. “I will make a presentation before Rahulji explaining the targets set for the next five years, plans and key issues in the constituency,” he said.

Reports are making the rounds that one of the four will be inducted in the state cabinet. Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan’s statement, soon after his appointment by his party, that he wants young faces in the cabinet has given boost to this claim.

The victory of his trusted aides was so important for Rahul Gandhi that he held campaign rallies for all of them. He preferred a rally at Yavatmal for Parvekar over the one for Raosaheb Shekhavat — son of President Pratibha Patil —who was contesting from the adjacent Amravati district. All of them are highly qualified and have experience of working in the social and political field for more than a decade, and have been associated with the Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress.
