The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit president, Sudhir Mungantiwar on Monday alleged that the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) had misappropriated more than Rs12,165.62 crore in Pimpri-Chinchwad over the last five years.

He released a booklet containing allegations against the ruling NCP in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), titled Pimpri-Chinchwad Mahanagarpaliketil Rashtravadi Congresschya Bhrasht Karbharacha Panchanama (A panchanama of the corrupt practices of the NCP in PCMC). He also released the BJP’s election manifesto.

The booklet alleged that the city centre scam involved a scam of Rs3,000 crore; slum rehabilitation scam Rs255.59 crore; irregularities in Gharkul scheme to provide houses for economically weaker sections  Rs256.58 crore; bus rapid transport system (BRTS) irregularities Rs3,750 crore; housing project scam Rs3,000 crore; ITR scam Rs100 crore; transfer of development rights (TDR) scam Rs600 crore; excessive expenditure scam Rs1,000 crore; floodline scam Rs100 crore; dereservation scam Rs100 crore; self-help groups scam Rs3.2 crore; and educational material purchase scam Rs0.25 crore.

Alleging that the NCP, along with the Congress, was out to sell the Pune Municipal Corporation too, Mungantiwar alleged that no development projects were successful in the two cities because of the corrupt rule of the NCP and the Congress.

He said that the commissioners and officials who brought this mismanagement to the fore were being transferred to hush up the matters.
“The NCP and Congress are busy fighting each other, while the development works are suffering. Even though they rule in the state and centre, development plan was pending for years and the metro project is still a dream,” he added.

Stating that the grand alliance intended to change this picture, he said if it comes to power a committee would be appointed to keep a check on what works were being carried out by the BJP, Shiv Sena and the Republican Party of India.

Claiming there were no differences between the BJP and Shiv Sena over the three panels allotted to the BJP where Shiv Sena has fielded candidates, he said it happened by oversight and the Shiv Sena would support only the grand alliance candidate at these places.
