Protests cost Shiv Sena men their security

The protest against Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has ‘exposed’ three Shiv Sena leaders. MLAs Ravindra Waikar and Prakash Sawant and MLC Anil Parab’s security has been withdrawn for protesting against Gandhi when he visited the city on Friday.

Waikar was taken aback when his police guard told him on Monday that the commissioner has asked him to return to the police headquarters. “The Congress government has drawn political revenge by withdrawing my security cover. I was not even served a notice of intimation before the step was taken,” he said.
Waikar had tried to barge through Gandhi’s security arrangement near Mithibai College in Juhu during the latter’s visit. He had also led a mob to waive black flags following Sena chief Bal Thackeray’s directive. Gandhi was there to attend a function at Bhaidas Hall in Vile Parle.

MLC Parab had led a morcha to actor Shah Rukh Khan’s Bandra house last week to protest his advocacy for Pakistani players in the Indian Premiere League (IPL). “The protest against Khan might the reason for taking off my security cover,” Parab said.
