NGO, Nana Patekar to be honoured at Pulotsav

Pulotsav Tarunai Sanman will be presented to noted vocalist of Kirana Gharana, Jayateerth Mevundi, by veteran painter Ravi Paranjape on December 18.

Veteran cartoonist RK Laxman will inaugurate the 9th Pulotsav Tarunai cultural festival on December 16 during which the Pu La Smirti Puraskar will be conferred upon noted actor Nana Patekar by well-known theatre personality Vijaya Mehta.

Organised by Aashay Sanskrutik and Paranjape Schemes in the memory of eminent writer Pu La Deshpande, the event will be held from December 16 to 19 New English School, Ramanbaug, and Farshi Maidan.

Festival director Virendra Chitrav said, “All the three geniuses coming together on stage will be a golden moment. After the inauguration, there will be an audio-visual interaction with Nana Patekar.’’

Pulotsav Krutadnyata Sanman will be presented to Snehalaya, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) from Ahmednagar, by social worker Girish Prabhune on December 17.

Pulotsav Tarunai Sanman will be presented to noted vocalist of Kirana Gharana, Jayateerth Mevundi, by veteran painter Ravi Paranjape on December 18.

Prominent poet Mangesh Padgaonkar will be honoured with Pulotsav Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar by Shradhanand Thakur on December 19.

Festival director Satish Jakatdar said, “On the occasion of Aashay Film Club completing 25 years, we have organised a special documentary festival on December 17 in which documentaries of 25 young talented film-makers around the world will be showcased. It will be inaugurated by filmmaker Umesh Kulkarni.’’

The festival will begin with Three of Us, a short film made by Kulkarni. The festival will conclude with the premiere of the documentary based on the life of sarod maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan directed by Jaydeep Mukherjee and Alok Banerjee.

On the occasion of Aashay Film Club’s silver jubilee, a special book exhibition has been organised at Pathfinder, near Neelayam Talkies. There will be a special section of 25 books written by young writers in the last three years. It will be inaugurated by noted poet Sandip Khare and there will be interaction with five young writers.
