Nalasopara murders: Eighth accused held

Nalasopara police arrested Sanjay Jaiswal, an accused in the double murder of murder of Om, 7, and his sister Ritika, 3. Sanjay who was absconding since the murders came to light, was nabbed from Nalasopara on Wednesday.

On Saturday, the police arrested Vishal Jaiswal, his wife Rita, parents Sachalal and Sumitradevi and three others for allegedly killing Vishal’s son Om and daughter Ritika in the name of religious rite. Himanshu alias Dolly, mastermind behind the killing is already behind bars. “Sanjay was present in the flat when Himanshu and other family members killed the children,” said Shriram Koregaonkar, senior inspector of Nalasopara police station.

On October 22, around midnight Himanshu suddenly declared that the children were possessed by an evils spirit and she intended to exorcise them. After that, family members held children on the floor, while Himanshu danced on them and strangulated them to death.
