Shaan Singh may look like any other college youngster. But very few know that this Mumbai lad will be the youngest DJ to perform at Asia’s biggest electronic dance music (EDM) festival, Sunburn Goa, to be held on Candolim Beach.
Singh, 16, who started his career in 2010, will be seen on stage, playing music for the thousands expected to arrive at the Goa beach between December 27 and 29 December. “I have attended every Sunburn festival, right from its inception. I was a kid back then, but yes, this festival introduced me to EDM. I became interested in how it is actually produced and played. And it was then that I decided to try my hand at being a DJ devoted to this kind of music,” said Singh.
Sunburn is a three-day EDM festival, which is a synergy of music, entertainment, sports, food, shopping and lifestyle, and is a big tourist-grabber. It caters to a wide Indian and international audience, and portrays India as a dance festival destination to the world by bringing together renowned Indian and international DJs.
“I can’t even explain how thrilled I am to be the youngest of DJs to play at the festival and that too in the presence of international legends and thousands in attendance,” said Singh, who has already begun producing his own music which will be released next year.
Big names from the electronic music industry like Pete Tong, Gabriel & Dresden, Jerome Ismae-ae, Perfect Stranger, Laughing Buddha, Rae and Brute Force will be playing in the festival.
“It’s a huge international stage for me and an opportunity to prove myself in the international arena. I am absolutely looking forward to it and ready to rock the show,” he said.
