A 22-year-old man died and his friend was critically injured after they fell from a moving train between Mira Road and Dahisar stations on Friday morning.

While Zakir Himala died en route to the hospital, Tushar Patole, 26,  is undergoing treatment at Bhagwati hospital in Borivli.
The railway police said that Himala had earlier survived a similar accident on the same spot. His relatives claimed that last year he had fallen off a moving train on the same spot where he died on Friday.

The Mira Road residents would catch the 9.11 Churchgate-bound train every morning. But, as the train was crowded on Friday, they were forced to stand on the footboard, holding on to the rod.
Suddenly, as the train jerked, two men got pushed out as they lost their grip on the rod.

Commuters informed the railway police at Dahisar station who, in turn, informed their counterparts at Bhayander.. Within minutes police teams rushed to the spot and the two men were taken to Bhagwati hospital.
