The Mumbai police will use Global Positioning System (GSP) devices and cameras on Sunday to prevent any kind of law and order situation. “Only the vehicles of the most important Ganesh mandals in the city will be fitted with video cameras,” clarified Brijesh Singh, additional commissioner of police (traffic).

The still cameras, which will be weather resistant, are capable of taking a picture every 30 seconds using a flash. The live footage will be available at the different centres and the traffic control room at Worli.

The traffic police have given route instructions to each mandal. “As the vehicle with GPS moves, its location will be flashed along with timings. It will be  a continuous monitoring system,” added Singh.
