Former judge’s daughter booked in graft case

Anti-corruption unit of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday booked the daughter of a former high court judge for accepting bribe.

She allegedly demanded Rs30 lakh from a private party for getting a favourable order in a matter pending with National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (NCDRC), New Delhi.

Two of her accomplices have also been arrested while another is still untraceable.

NCDRC is the apex body of the consumer redressal forum and is headed by a sitting or retired judge of the Supreme Court of India. The CBI officials said the victim approached the investigating agency with the complaint.

The CBI officials laid a trap and caught two persons while they were accepting the bribe amount from the complainant on behalf of accused, Manisha Mahase.

She has been booked under the sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code.
