Engineering student commits suicide in Navi Mumbai

Sirosh Pothu Atul (18), first year Mechanical Engineering student of Bhartiya Vidyapeeth College in Kharghar, committed suicide in the hostel room of the college.

    Sirosh Pothu Atul (18), first year Mechanical Engineering student of Bhartiya Vidyapeeth College in Kharghar, committed suicide in the hostel room of the college on Thursday evening. The incident came to light when his two roommates who had gone out, came back at around 7.30pm.

    According to police, Atul committed suicide before 7.30pm. He had left a suicide note in the pocket of his barmuda that he was wearing. The note said that he committed suicide since his exams were tough. “In the note, he mentioned the names of all his friends. He bid them good bye. He also mentioned about his parents and thanked them for being there always and giving him money whenever he needed it. He had written the note in English. We have informed his parents about the incident and they have left from Aurangabad. It will take around 7 hours for them to reach by road,” DCP (Zone II) Ankush Shinde from said.

    On Thursday, after the exam, he came back to the room and cried because the exam was very tough for him. His two roommates tried to console him and gave him food to eat. Later Atul told his roommates that he wanted to sleep. Atul went to sleep while the two roommates went out.

    Evening at around 7.30 pm when his roommates came back, he was not opening t he door even after continuous bangs. Since there was no reply from Atul’s end, his roommates broke opened the door and then found him hanging onto the ceiling fan. Atul, the only son of his parents, originally hailed from Kerala but his parents stayed in Aurangabad. His father is working as a manager in a private firm. Suicide case is registered with Kharghar police.
