Depression might have driven Ravi Kishan's maid to end life: Police

The police today claimed that the domestic help of Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan, who allegedly committed suicide by jumping from a high-rise where the actor resides, might have taken the extreme step as she was 'depressed' and feeling 'lonely' in the city.

Rubi Sahani, 22, plunged to death from the 14th floor in Garden Estate Apartments in Bangur Nagar area of suburban Malad yesterday.

According to the sources, the police have questioned the actor and his wife Preeti in connection with the incident.

Rubi, who had been working with Ravi for the past two months, fled to Mumbai from her native place at Mathura in Uttar Pradesh after not being able to bear the torture from her husband and in-laws, they said.

The police said they have also spoken to the actor's neighbours and family members and have ruled out any foul play.

Preeti in her statement to police said that the behaviour of the victim was eccentric at times.

She would stay away from the house for two to three days and even after her return would not say where she had been, Preeti said.

The police said they have informed about Rubi's death to her family members.

According to them, the 22-year-old locked herself in the bathroom of the house and then jumped to death. However, no suicide note was found on her.

Ravi is a television personality who also works in Hindi and Bhojpuri cinema. He became a known face after his participation in the reality show Bigg Boss in 2006.
