CoEP to celebrate third global alumni meet on Saturday

Around 400 alumni from different parts of the world are expected to congregate at the college.

College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP), is celebrating its third alumni meet today (December 25). Around 400 alumni from different parts of the world are expected to congregate at CoEP.

Sanjay Dhande, director of the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur, an alumnus of CoEP’s 1965 batch and a member of the board of governors of the college, will be addressing the alumni on the topic of ‘Vision of BOG about future development
of CoEP’.

The function will be presided by Vikaykumar Saraswat, director general of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) as chief guest, along with former chairman of the Finance Commission and now chairman of the National Stock Exchange, Vijay Laxman Kelkar, an alumnus of the 1962 batch.

The alumni association will felicitate six eminent alumni at the inaugural function. Three famous entrepreneurs and alumni of the college CMD, PARI, Mangesh Kale, CMD, Saturn Infotech Inc USA, Steve Vibhute, MD, Nichrome India Ltd, Harish Joshi will share their success stories with young and aspiring alumni.

R Vasudevan, president, CoEP Alumni Association and MD, Vascon Engineers Ltd. said, “The objective is to perceive and share the excitement and plans for excellence that the board of governors, faculty and the alumni associations in India and the US are working on. Also, it will be a day when we go down memory lane, chat with batchmates enjoy the nostalgias in classrooms, pay respect to professors who made us wiser, remember great alumni like Bharatratna M.Visvesvaraya (alumnus 1883) and J G Bodhe (alumnus 1934).”

AD Sahasrabudhe, director, CoEP, said that the Alumni Association plays an important role in supporting the reforms.

“The college has made phenomenal progress on all fronts in the last six years, apart from the academics the students have always excelled in diverse activities which would shape them become responsible citizens and contribute in nation building.”

The alumni are financially supporting the COEP to make it a centre of excellence. It has donated a total of Rs2.7 crore for purpose of research projects, setting up of Bhau Institute of Innovation, entrepreneurship and modernisation of the workshop, giving scholarships and  prizes for achievements, among others.
