The state excise department on Saturday busted a bootlegging racket and seized a van used for selling counterfeit liquor at Seven Loves Chowk on Shankarsheth Road on Saturday
The excise officials also arrested Satish Jadhav (28) of Loni Kalbhor for running the racket.

Sleuth laid by Sunil Chavan, superintendent state excise, Pune, sub-inspector Mohan Jhare and Ramesh Birajdar and constable Manoj More had laid the trap acting on a tip-off. On Saturday evening, they were successful in nabbing a suspicious van in which liquor was being prepared on a large scale.

Inspector (B Division) Sujeet Patil told DNA, “We caught the suspect red handed and found him carrying the liquor in two drums. The suspect used to mix the chemicals and sell it in a ‘branded’ bottle. When inquired, the suspect about the bottle and the label, he informed that he had purchased them from scrap dealers and resold it as ‘branded’ liquor at a lower price. The liquor was supplied as per the demand. Most of the supply was to illegal eateries or locals.’’
