Residents of Girgaum are up in arms against people urinating in public outside Charni Road station. A local group has said that residents should reprimand those who unabashedly urinate in public. This call to haul the offenders came after a bunch of women complained to the group Aamhi Girgaonkar that men use the space below the now defunct bridge at Charni Road station to urinate at any time of the day.

Gaurav Sagwekar, the group's leader, was approached by some local women commuters who travel from the station daily using the same route. The group members then went to the spot and found men urinating in openly. They clicked pictures of some of them in the act.

Later, the group took to social media and posted the pictures. With these pictures was the message that women who see men urinating at this spot should bash them up. "A woman messaged and told us that she spotted men urinating at the space beneath the bridge. I asked her that she should bash such men so that they never come back and urinate there," said Sagwekar.

The message also questioned Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as to whether they were constructing a bridge or a toilet at the spot.

"The BMC should act fast, because if they don't then this place will soon turn into a public urinal. We cannot let this happen. Earlier too, it was because of Aamhi Girgaonkar that the issue had come to light. It seems we will have to protest again to stop this nuisance," he said.

Meanwhile, when contacted about the matter, ward officer of D Ward said: "The bridge was demolished by the bridges department and officer concerned should be contacted."

Sanjay Darade, who is holding additional charge of the ward, didn't respond to our messages.
