After his 'aide' Gajanan Patil was arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly seeking a Rs30-crore bribe for land allotment, revenue minister Eknath Khadse said he would file a defamation case against complainant R K Jadhav and those who had levelled accusations at him.

In 2011, Jadhav, a former director of the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management, had sought 10.78 hectare land at Nilje in Kalyan for educational purposes from the state government for his International Society for Excellence in Projects Management and Research. The value of this land according to the government was Rs5.53 crore.

However, Khadse said that Jadhav had been informed in 2012 that the land could not be allocated to him based on a Supreme Court order as it was pasture land. He had also sought 12.95ha land valued at Rs77.4 lakh at Nandivali near Kalyan, but the land was later allocated to the transport department after an order on a PIL.

"Considering his past record, he has a habit of making such allegations," said Khadse, adding that Jadhav had levelled similar charges against senior state officials, gram panchayat office bearers and lawyers. "The suprising part is that it has been claimed that a bribe of Rs30 crore was sought for a piece of land worth Rs5 crore and in a case that has already decided," Khadse said, adding that he had himself rejected Jadhav's review petition in February.

Khadse stressed he was open to any inquiry.

"This is a made-up case. The man is in the habit of making allegations repeatedly. Records from 2008 onwards make it clear that corruption charges have been made by him against those who did not act in his favour," he said, adding, however, that he had to admit that he knew Patil, who hailed from his constituency in Jalgaon district.
