Actress and artist Rashmi Pitre, whose works are showing in Mumbai, talks about what sets her creative artistic energy going.
She is an actress and someone who has won several prizes for her drawing and painting and for Rashmi Pittre there is a definite joy in the latter. “I think art takes shape from the inner soul of a person and many times it’s spontaneous. I have co-ordinated my painting with poetry. I write my poems on my paintings on canvas whenever I feel it appropriate as you can see the paintings Soul of the Forest and Quiet.
A traveller’s easel?
To Rashmi, her work inspired by her visits to different places. “Travelling is very essential for an artist. I think it’s very beautiful learning process. I travel to different places — to see the historical stupas, temples, sculptures of ancient India. Observing nature is very inspiring and I like to coordinate emotions in my paintings. I like to underline the fact from my paintings that Nature and environment is an integral part of human life and we need it! One of my paintings with poetry titled Soul of the Forest sketches the impact of the huge evergreen forest on the people or the adivasis. Going to these places and sketching is very helpful for my paintings on the subject of Buddha and Indian art. Not only paintings but also my poetry are inspired by it,” she explains.
The medium used…
Rashmi likes to use a variety of media — acrylic colors, oil, watercolors and charcoal on canvas. “I love bright colours - they are full of life and energy. Every colour has its own texture and I fall in love with it instantly. I like to work on different concepts and series,” she says.
So, what’s next?
“I’m doing more paintings and shows in India and abroad. I’m a professional theatre actor and there is also a South movie I’ll be acting in,” signs off Rashmi.
