Channeling Audrey Hepburn

She may not be around to celebrate her 73rd birthday, but actor and fashion diva, Audrey Hepburn continues to influence the world of fashion across the globe.

In fact, her style is making an even bigger comeback especially in Bollywood, which first began when yesteryear actor Sadhana apparently adopted Audrey Hepburn’s fringe to cover her broad forehead. Since then the cut became popular as the Sadhana cut.

Recently, many B-Towners were seen flaunting some form of style that was synonymous with the Hollywood star —  actress Frieda Pinto sported the fringe, and so did actress Katrina Kaif at events recently. Actress Kangana Ranaut, on the other hand, not just sported the fringe, but also tied up her hair and wore a LBD (little black dress) made popular by Audrey.

The most famous Audrey  statement was made by actress Sonam Kapoor, when she made her debut at Cannes last year, with a Tiffany style gown. So what is it that makes Audrey  an enduring fashion icon?

Celebrity stylist, Savio John Pereira has a huge frame of The Breakfast at Tifanny’s star adorning the wall in  his salon. “Her style has always been simple, yet makes a huge statement. It creates an aura of beauty, elegance and style,” says Savio. “One can never go wrong with Audrey’s simple, yet sensual style,” says designer Mandira Wirk.

Designer duo, sisters Riddhi and Siddhi Mapxencar reveal that Audrey dresses and accessories are popular with women of all ages. “It’s classic dressing — solid colour dresses that are  structured, yet feminine in silhouette. Audrey wore it with oomph and confidence, and that’s exactly what a woman of today  wants,” state the duo, adding, “She used to accessorise her dresses brilliantly with a minimalistic look. The pear jewellery, the shoes and of course, the hats… she was never OTT.”
