The city is set to witness an international belly dance fusion festival on Women's Day. Bwitch aims to marry art and activism to help woman reiterate their voice through this powerful medium of dance. This festival features dynamic workshops, gala shows, healthy competition, flash mob, woman circle and powerful performances.

Leena Vie, the curator of the festival participated in recent India Gate protests which left an indelible mark on her. As a result the idea of channelling a collective voice through the art medium came to surface. She says "I was restless sitting and watching the horrid protest news on TV. I decided to go out and join the protests on Sunday. It was an unforgettable incident. The police so-called 'legitimate care-takers' of our society rained down on us tear gas, lathis and cold water while chasing us down in hurling abuses. Is this the price we pay for voicing what we feel as a woman in this country? I didn't want my voice to be quietened as they intended. I know changing perceptions isn't easy but we need to have awareness of the patriarchal conditioning that limits us and consciously work towards building a society where we can walk freely on the streets, unharrassed, unafraid."

Through this festival dancers from different parts of the worlds including France, Portugal, Russia, Egypt and Spain would be collaborating live with Indian dancers celebrating the diverse traditions of belly dance, folkloric Middle Eastern dance, and its modern fusions.

One can catch never seen fusion acts like Hula Hoop Belly Fusion, Thai Odissi Belly Fusion, Kathak Belly Fusion, Sacred Temple Bellydance Fusion, and Flamenco Tribal Fusion Bellydance. To keep up the vibe it would also feature improvisational dance to live music, led by Mohammed Alnuma (Oud player and singer) from Kuwait.

When and Where: It will span over two days on Woman's day weekend (March 7-8) at the Hive, Khar
