Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora will be on two-day tour of Jaipur from Friday to take stock of the preparations of the Lok Sabha elections.

Sources say that Arora will be holding a meeting of the state election department officials on Friday in the secretariat on draft voters list. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anand Kumar would give him feedback on the preparations done so far for the elections as well.

On Saturday, he would chair a meeting on law and order with DGP Kapil Garg and chief secretary DB Gupta. The senior officials would have discussion in detail over availability of forces to ensure free and fair elections. The CEO Kumar will also attend the meeting.

Sources add that the full commission of Election Commission of India (ECI) is expected to hold a meeting with senior officials on the Lok Sabha preparations again on March 12-13.

This meeting will be crucial in giving final touches to the poll preparations due in April-May.

The state election department, which conducted the Assembly polls in state in December, has geared up to conduct the Parliamentary elections.

The department in January held special camps for ratification of the electoral rolls, by adding eligible voters.

A special drive was also launched to remove double and multi entries of the voters. The department is expected to release the final draft of rolls in the coming weeks.

The department is regularly issuing appeals to eligible voters to get their names added in the rolls so that they could take part in the festival of democracy due in April-May.

The young voters who turned 18 years old as on January 31, 2019 are eligible to apply in the voters’ list. The voters, if they have any doubt regarding exclusion of their names in the rolls can search their names in Raj election app available on Google play store.

By downloading the application a voter can now search his or her name in the voter rolls.

It may be noted that 4.74 crore were registered voters as per the final rolls published during the recent Assembly elections. This figure may increase further as the rolls will be revised and will include those who turned 18 as on January 31, 2019.
