They have been given the go-ahead by voters and represent the changing face of politics in the city.

At an age  when most youth would want to hang out at happening joints or worry about corporate careers, at least four candidates between 21 and 23 are keen to work for the welfare of the city.
Interestingly, all these five candidates are first timers and have won public faith to make a difference in their wards.

The candidates are- Samirkhan Pathan from Sarkhej, Shahejadkhan Pathan from Dani Limda, Pratik Dudhiya from Jodhpur, Vilasben Sohelia from Vasna and Kailash Thakore from Lambha.

"My first priority is to provide basic amenities like road, infrastructure, drinking water, street lights, and drainage facility in my area. Our area is the most neglected pocket in the city. And my main aim is to make it a decent one to live in," said Samirkhan Pathan, 23.

Shahejadkhan Pathan is another articulate youth who has won the people's mandate to serve them. He holds a diploma in business management from a college in Australia.

"I want to change the youth’s attitude towards politics. Apart from
serving people in the area, I want to encourage youngsters to join politics and be part of the change they want," said Shahejadkhan, 23. He won as a Congress corporator from Dani Limda by more than 17,000 votes.

Pratik Dudhiya, now a BJP corporator from Jodhpur is also determined to work for the betterment of the area. Dudhiya, 31, holds a graduate degree in pharmacy and is an employee of Torrent Research Centre. "My priority is to improve amenities in Jodhpur. Our panel is a good combination of the young and experienced and so we will be able to work better," said Dudhiya.
