The first day of the National Colloquium on Indian Women Writers in English, attended by many prominent authors, was a truly mesmerising event. Organised by Delhi Sahitya Akademi along with the department of English, Gujarat University (GU), the two-day event aims to bring together representative Indian women writers from all over India.

Held at Gujarat Vishvakosh Bhavan of the city, the event saw the presence of eminent writers including Shobha De, Esther David and Kajal Oza Vaidya, Sudha Rai, Bharathi Harishankar as well as many others from across the country.

One of the interesting sessions during the event was a round table conference chaired by colloquium director, professor and head, department of English, GU, Ranjana Harish on the topic 'Gender and Creative Writing'.

The splendid performance by poet and dancer Tulsi Badrinath on Geet Govindam and Prof Parul Shah's dance to an English song impressed the audience as the professors performed and presented the connection between literature and dance.

Apart from this, the event also witnessed various interesting sessions like poetry reading by Harish Narang, a presentation by Rupalee Burke as well as some discussions.
