Woman in Ahmedabad tries to kidnap friend’s child

A woman made a plan to kidnap the daughter of her friend and get ransom from her. But her plan was foiled when a group of people chased the kidnappers and nabbed them.

According to the police, Sonia Dave and Priyanka Jain were returning home after picking up the latter's daughter from school. It was around 10.45 am and the two were travelling on a two-wheeler. Suddenly two men came on a bike and tried to snatch Jain's daughter. But Jain held on to her daughter and shouted for help.

The kidnappers got scared and tried to flee on their bike. But they were chased by a group of people who managed to catch one of them. Police were also called. Sources said that when one of the bikers was caught, Dave was not keen on calling the police.

The biker, who by then had been beaten up by the people, identified himself as Rikil and said that he had done it on the instruction of Dave who was his elder sister. He identified the other biker as his friend Nirmal.

Police said the three had planned to kidnap Jain's daughter to extort money from her. Sources said Dave wanted the money to educate her brother. Dave's husband works with a private bank while Jain's husband works in a private company.
