Withdraw I-T notice to state, Narendra Modi urges Manmohan Singh

Chief minister Narendra Modi met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his stay at Circuit House Annexe, Ahmedabad on Saturday with a memorandum of long pending issues related to Gujarat. Modi was accompanied by state finance minister Vajubhai Vala, minister of state Saurabh Patel in the meeting.

In his representation Modi repeated the demands, which has already been submitted to the Union government at different points of time. The CM pitched for withdrawal of notice by Income Tax Department to the state government seeking details of investment committed during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit. Seeking inclusion of Gandhinagar and Karamsad under JnNURM, Modi also asked for air travel services to Surat, besides demanding immediate allocation of fund for Dandi Heritage Route.

The CM also talked about allocation of gas to the power plants in Gujarat apart from urging him to to correct injustices suffered by the vehicles owners from frequent hike in CNG prices. He urged the PM that under Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Program (AIBP), areas in the state covered under Desert Development Program (DDP) should be considered on par with the areas under Draught Prone Area Program (DPAP) as done in the states of Punjab and Karnataka.

Singh gave a patient hearing to the MoU and assured Modi of his personal intervention on the various issues.
